A call for reader support was issued by an independent media organization, emphasizing its commitment to free access to critical news. The organization stated that it does not accept corporate advertisements and relies on donations to maintain its operations. It aims to raise $100,000 by November 1 to continue its mission of providing unbiased journalism. The message underscored the importance of community involvement in sustaining independent media.

Craig Brown, co-founder of the organization, expressed gratitude for the support of its readers, stating that their contributions are essential to maintaining independent media during times of heightened need.

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently expressed pride in her work during her tenure as a spokesperson for the Biden administration. She affirmed that she would not retract any of her statements, despite defending U.S. support for Israel’s actions in Gaza over the past year.

During an appearance on MSNBC, Jean-Pierre acknowledged the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as “heartbreaking” but emphasized her hope for a lasting ceasefire and long-term peace. She maintained that she did not make policy decisions, though she admitted that “we did not get everything right.” She expressed pride in her role, highlighting the significance of being a Black, queer woman in a position of prominence at the White House.

Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, criticized Jean-Pierre’s remarks, calling them “disgusting” and revealing. He argued that her identity was used to justify support for actions that could be considered genocide, suggesting that her personal background granted her a perceived license to defend such policies without regret.

Jean-Pierre is currently promoting her new book, *Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines*, which outlines her reasons for leaving the Democratic Party. However, her decision to depart from the party has been scrutinized, with critics noting that she did not mention the administration’s support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza as a factor.

In a scathing review of the book, Washington Post critic Becca Rothfeld suggested that Jean-Pierre’s complaints centered more on personal grievances than on substantive policy issues. Rothfeld noted that while Jean-Pierre criticized the internal workings of the Democratic Party, she did not question the broader policies, including those related to U.S. support for Israel.

The Biden administration has provided material and diplomatic backing to Israel following the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas. As the chief spokesperson, Jean-Pierre defended this support, opposing efforts by lawmakers to restrict arms sales to Israel and rejecting international calls for accountability against Israeli leaders. She emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security.
